Note: This article assumes you've already added a Sender to Fundmore. If you haven't, please first Connect Your Email to Fundmore and then return here.
If you haven't yet heard, we released a new feature called Auto Process Funder Responses which automatically reads in declines, offers, and required stips.
You can find out more about this feature by clicking above or continue reading below for setup instructions.
Step 1: Enable "Auto Process Funder Responses"
On the bottom left corner of the Fundmore sidebar, you'll see the name of the logged in user and a circle with their initials.
Click on the name and select "View profile." This will take you to your profile page, which is specific to each user (not to be confused with the Settings page, which is for the whole Workspace).
Near the top of your screen are multiple tabs. You'll be on Details, but you need to head to the Senders tab.
Once there, hover over the Sender that you want to set up and click the Edit
button.
Near the bottom, you'll see a checkbox called "Auto process funder responses." Click it.
Step 2: Enter IMAP Information
Once the "Auto process funder responses" box is checked, some new fields will appear. These are for IMAP, so they will likely be different than your SMTP settings.
Here's an overview of each IMAP field and what it means:
Field name | Description | Example value |
IMAP username | Your full email address | |
IMAP Host | The server address (see below) | imap.gmail.com |
IMAP Port | Typically depends on SSL/TLS settings | 993 |
IMAP Requires SSL/TLS | The connection type | TRUE (checked) |
After entering this information, click Confirm
to save. Then hover over the Sender you just edited and click the Update password
button.
A pop-up will appear, asking for your SMTP and IMAP passwords. See below for instructions on where to find them.
Keep in mind: To set an IMAP password, you must also set an SMTP password. You cannot update one without updating the other.
In most cases, such as Gmail's app passwords, the same password will work for both SMTP and IMAP. So you can just paste it into both password fields.
Instructions for Common Email Providers:
Google Workspace / Gmail
Google Workspace / Gmail
IMAP username: Your full email address
IMAP password:
This should be an app password, which requires 2-Step Verification to be enabled.
Go to the Manage your Google Account page > Security > 2-Step Verification page and turn on 2-Step Verification.
Scroll to the bottom and click the arrow next to "App passwords."
From there you can type any name for the password; if unsure, use "Fundmore" so it's identifiable in the future.
Click the
Create
button and copy the 16-character password to clipboard (make sure not to copy an extra space at the end).
Finally, paste it into the Sender's password field in Fundmore.
If you use your Gmail login password instead of an app password, it may work at first but eventually Google will reject your emails and give the following error:
β
βInvalid login: 534-5.7.9 Application-specific password required. For more information, go to 534 5.7.9 https://support.google.com/mail/?p=InvalidSecondFactor kt17-20020a170906aad100b00a58ae8464d2sm7770079ejb.211 - gsmtp

IMAP password: [the password that you use to login to your Outlook account]

Step 3: Verify Connection
There isn't yet a self-serve way to verify that your IMAP connection is working.
You can wait until the next 15-minute interval (e.g. 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, etc.) to see if any submissions were auto updated or any new offers were created.
Otherwise, for instant feedback, hover over the Sender that's enabled and click Auto process funder responses
. This will trigger the processing on demand for that Sender.
If you don't see any changes, it could just mean that you haven't received any funder responses with a status update (ie. declined, approved, or pending).
You can always reach out if you're having trouble and we'll be happy to take a look.
If something isn't clear in this article or you have a question about any related topics, feel free to send a message to us and we'll get to it as soon as we can.
Now you can get back to funding more, with Fundmore!
